2008 Annual Report

Dear Public School Supporter,

On behalf of the Nashville Alliance for Public Education, we want to thank you for your support of Metro Nashville Public Schools and our organization.

Because of you, the Nashville Alliance has made great strides in helping our schools.

Because of you, we have:

The next few years will be the most important and challenging time our public schools have faced, and your continued support is needed now more than ever. There have been many discouraging reports in recent months about the state of our public schools, and while the Nashville Alliance is keenly aware of the challenges, we remain strongly focused on the positive impact our community can have on our schools. The pages of this report are filled with success stories all made possible by supporters of the Nashville Alliance.

As Nashville business leader and Nashville Alliance founder Nelson Andrews once said, “What happens to the students in our schools affects all of us.” The students who are enrolled in our public school system will shape the future of our city, and the quality educations they receive will play an important role in determining what that future will look like. We can help all students have the greatest opportunity to reach their full potential, and the Nashville Alliance aims to do just that. We are proud to announce that the Nashville Alliance has raised millions of dollars through private resources to support our schools.

At the Nashville Alliance, we are working very hard for public schools in Nashville, and we hope our supporters are proud of the impact the Nashville Alliance is having in our schools. We want to encourage you to stand up for education, and we ask not only for your continued support, but for your help in bringing your friends and neighbors into the effort to improve Metro schools.

For the last five years, it has been a privilege to serve as the conduit for private giving to the public school system.
