Brother, can you spare a clarient?

As Metro Nashville public schools face $15 million in budget cuts next year, the County Music Associations is sounding a call for used band instruments to help local schoolchildren get a start in music.

People who have gently used instruments sitting in attics or closets can bring them to the Family Zone at the CMA Music Festival downtown this weekend, where they will be donated to Keep the Music Playing, the CMA's partnership with the Nashville Alliance for Public Education.

Keep the Music Playing runs on proceeds donated from the CMA Music Festival, whose performers play for free. CMA has given roughly $2.2 million to the program to buy new band instruments for Metro Nashville schools.
