A doctor, a banker and a country music icon — all graduates of Metro schools — were inducted into the Nashville Public Schools Hall of Fame on Tuesday.
The hall, created in 2005, honors achievements of Metro graduates and recognizes local leaders who contribute to the success of the schools.
The most recently included alumni are:
Kevin Churchwell, chief executive officer of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at
Vanderbilt. He is a 1979 graduate of McGavock High School and grew up in East Nashville.
Churchwell received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University.
Dennis C. Bottorff, a 1962 DuPont High alumnus. He has been a national leader in banking since the late 1960s. He's a co-founder and managing partner of Council Ventures, a venture capital firm.
Patsy Bradley, a 1957 graduate of Hillsboro High School. Her major responsibility at BMI was affiliating music publishers with BMI for their music licensing representation. She was one of the few female music executives on Music Row.
The 2009 Distinguished Service Award inductee Tuesday night was Thomas J. Sherrard, founding chairman of the Nashville Alliance for Public Education and a founding member of Sherrard & Roe PLC. He has been an advocate for Nashville public schools for years.
