Programs/Focus Areas
Since its inception the Nashville Alliance for Public Education has raised millions of dollars to advance
student success in key academic areas such as reading, language arts, music, math and science. Our organization also supports programs and initiatives to improve graduation rates and enhance the professional development of public school educators. Through the generous support of donors, the Nashville Alliance has assisted area schools with funding needs. A few of the Nashville Alliance's key successes include:
- Providing $3.5 million to build the Martin
Professional Development Center.
- Purchasing more than $700,000 worth of science
and math equipment.
- Providing more than $2 million worth of musical
instruments.
- Creating an endowment for debate program
support from which all participating seniors have
graduated with scholarships.
- Partnering with the School of Math and Science at
Vanderbilt, which is a program that provides honors
credit in science.
- Distributing hundreds of gifts to individual schools
and school programs.
- Supporting Advancement Via Independent
Determination (AVID), a program to enroll more
students in college.
- Acquiring required library books and materials to
restock and update collection.
