Martin Professional Development Center: Support

Metro Nashville Public Schools is offering members of the community a chance to honor a Metro school teacher and provide a chair for Turner Auditorium at the Martin Professional Development Center.

For each donation of $50 or more, a teacher’s name will be inscribed on a gold plaque on the back of the chair.

To designate a donation in honor of a teacher, donate now.

Why others feel it is important to support professional development:

“My own educational experience inspired my interest to help provide a state-of-the-art facility for our teachers. Great schools help create a great city, and it all begins with high-quality teachers who have access to the best-available professional development opportunities.”
- Charlie Martin, The Martin Foundation

“If we are to have better schools, we must focus on what happens in the classroom between a teacher and a student.”
- Nelson C. Andrews, Nashville Business Leader and Education Advocate

“This is an exciting time for education in Nashville. The community has identified a critical need to improve our public schools. The Nashville Alliance and other local organizations are pooling their resources to fund projects like the Martin Center that will have a lasting impact on the futures of our students.”
- Karl Dean, Mayor of Nashville

“Years of thought and planning have gone into the development of the Martin Professional Development Center, and we’re excited to see the project completed. It started with the need for a better training center and, through the generous support of the community, has grown into a fully equipped facility for Metro teachers to use for years to come.”
